Re: Another 50+ member | | On July 4th this year I quit smoking 2 years ago....my husband had triple bypass the year before and I had made several changes -decaf coffee was the biggest for me. That same year I went to a nutritionist and lot 20 pounds but it was hard to stick to her rules and I slipped - then earlier last year I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I already was taking meds for high blood pressure, triglicerides and cholesterol...so the diabetes just didn't set well with me. I tried the nutritionist again but I spent the entire day figuring out what to eat in the next 2 - 3 hour span ---- so I quit again.
Right before Christmas I found this website and started lurking around....on the 5th of January I made the decision to start and really make it work for me. I still drink coffee --- but instead of 2 pots (decaf remember) a day I drink about 3 - 4 cups....a couple in the morning and maybe a couple at night....but I make sure I drink a lot of water during the day. In the first 2 weeks I lost 17 pounds and am not sure if I've lost any weight this week --- but I'm hopeful. I'm going through the end of the month with induction then I'll continue with OWL.
Good luck with your journey -- I'll keep an eye out and check in with you!!
