You should really speak to your physician about this. No one here is really qualified to speak about this, even if we're on Lantus and Atkins. Everyone reacts differently and I would hate for anyone to steer you in the wrong direction.
One question...did you make the hamburger patty and asparagus, or did you go out to eat? If it's the latter, it is possible that the restaurant has added some sugars to improve the taste. I know they do at some steak houses, so I've stopped eating steaks out.
