I know, is it possible to be eating too many calories on atkins?? | Yes, I add absolutely everything in Fitday, even if it has basically zero carbs. In DANDR, Dr. Atkins writes we should not be counting calories. However, he did not write that calories are not important! While you do have a metabolic advantage when following Atkins, if you overeat Atkins "legal" foods, you will not lose weight or you may even gain. So calories do matter! However, as Liv said, counting calories is not necessary for many of us, because one's appetite is suppressed once ketosis sets in. On the other hand, if you have problems with controlling portion sizes, keeping an eye on your calories might make a difference.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"
