Re: Where is everyone? | | LadyT -- I'm type2 -- was diagnosed in July of last year. I didn't really do anything at first to help myself I decided to let the medicine do what it could and I would eat "better" but not go overboard or diet (god forbid!). In December of last year I was tired of being tired, of my clothes not fitting, of having high blood glucose reading everytime I tested so I started researching and decided to try something called Atkins...I knew a couple people who were "sort of" doing Atkins and they had lost weight so I found the Atkins site online and somehow through a series of clicking I found this board and felt right at home. I knew within a few minutes of being on this site reading about everyone's success and struggle that something was different -- people were actually helpful here --- they rooted each other on --- even though I was a new member and hadn't started the program when I ask a question someone answered and gave me advise. I had 3 "friends" before I even started the plan so I knew this was going to work.
I don't worry that someone else lost 15 pounds the first week....or that they lost a total of 39 pounds during induction, they aren't me. I know I had a clean induction and felt happy with my loss. Since that point I haven't lost much more BUT I have lost inches and I've lost the nasty person who use to live in this body - and I don't miss her!!! I will meet my goal but it will be at my pace not because someone else is losing 5 pounds a week still on rung 6. My body is different than yours, the medication I take is different, my exercise routine isn't the same so why would I loose weight at the same pace as someone else?
I'm over 50 -- so I guess maybe I'm finally finding something else I didn't know I had -- patience! I use to have a sign that said "Patience my A**, I'm gonna kill something"...now the only thing that bothers me is a neighbor that thinks I'm emptying the sump pump from our basement into his yard...I'm not and couldn't because he said the house next door to us doesn't have a swamped backyard and the complaining neighbor lives next to that house (he's 2 houses down from me) so how the heck am I flooding his backyard??? Oh well whatever!
I think one reason there isn't a lot of traffic here is that there are so many threads going on here, I sometimes forget that I have a journal thread here -- we just have to try to remember to come here .... maybe we can come and post our glucose readings or something .... just a thought.
