I'm glad he has insurance. My son has terrible scoliosis and was supposed to have the really bad surgery (3-4 months in the hospital) when he was 16, but he wouldn't go through with it. They showed him videos of the surgery and I don't know how anyone would be subjected to that surgery knowing what they do. He has a lot of trouble with his arms and hips.

Yeah - he is SO happy to finally have insurance. He actually had the rods put in when he was 12 - he's 35 now - and basically what they're gonna do is just remove one of them, as it's come loose and has been creating a very nasty skin irritation / infection on his back.

but he hasn't had any insurance since he was 16 i think?...

I just hope (and don't think i'm selfish for this) but I really hope that it's not genetic...I myself have so many freakin' issues (horrible ear stuff which runs in my mom's family, bad vision - although i did have lasik done - diabetes in the family, etc...etc...) that I don't want to have to worry about our children....ya know?
