Re: i have a question | | I don't know if I would go so far as to say you are "cured" because I'm not a doctor. I can only speak from my own experience - I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes last summer. My A1c was 10.3 when I began - I was sent to a nutritionist who gave me a low carb/low fat diet to follow and it was boring. I ate whatever I wanted and took my meds until January - then I got serious and started Atkins. I went to see my endocrinologist in March and my A1c was right around 6.0. At the time I saw the doctor I had lost 17 pounds so I was so excited that the A1C had gone down that much.
My meds were changed at that visit - my daytime meds were cut in half but my nighttime meds were doubled -- so it about evens itself out.
My blood sugar readings on January 1 were fasting 166 and evening 143. I have lost 29 pounds now and todays reading were fasting 92 - evening 102. Quite an improvement from January to April.
I know Sherri has gone from taking diabetes medicine to not taking any and has been off them for several years - she would be someone with better information than I can give. |
