If you're trying to lose weight, this rollercoaster will actually cause weight gain since insulin's message to the body is to store excess sugar as fat.
When we consume caffeine with meals, it causes blood glucose to swing wildly and insulin to go out of control. Drinking coffee or consuming caffeine in other beverages may make it harder to control glucose. Insulin sensitivity is decreased by caffeine.
For those that have hyperinsulinism caffeine can be brutal on blood sugar.
