Hi and welcome to Atkins. You will find much support here and answers to the questions you have. There is a forum dedicated to PCOS
PCOS & Atkins Low Carb Living - Atkins Diet you can read the stickies for additional help.
You will find a lot of doctors won't tell you about Atkins helping with specific medical conditions because they, along with the general public, don't understand this way of eating. They think Atkins is meat and cheese only -- over and over - day in and day out...this is so wrong. There are plenty of people here who have lost vast amounts of weight, their blood tests are now showing "normal" range - they are no longer considered obese and live productive lives - they don't die from kidney failure or have cholesterol levels that are off the charts. You can go to the celebration forum to read their stories.
I hope you have the 2002 DANDR book and follow it to the letter. The more you know about the plan the easier it is to follow it and you'll know the science behind the way it works. Amazon has inexpensive copies (with shipping mine was under 10.00). Here are a few links to help you get started - the list of acceptable food (if it's not on this list it DOESN'T go in your mouth!) - the rules of induction - follow them 100% - induction is 14 days of breaking addictions to food and drink. Also links to recipe sites so you have wonderful meal ideas!
Drink at least 64 ounces of pure water a day (nothing else counts - just pure water) and start some form of exercise daily. You can walk one day, ride a bike, exercise DVD, dance - just get moving.
Good luck. If you have questions all you have to do is ask!
