All the ketostix measure are the excess ketones being spilled in your urine. For example, if you ate two pounds of butter a day, you would be registering the darkest purple yet, probably gaining weight. Make sure you only eat until "satisfied". And to many of us, "satisfied" is a new concept. Satisfaction is not fullness. You need to stop eating when your hunger is satiated. Not when your plate is empty or when you are full. If there is still food on your plate and you are no longer hungry, then put it in the fridge. If you get another hunger pang later have some more. Just my first thought. I ran into similar issues until I realized that three cheeseburgers for lunch was bringing me way past "satisfied". I hope this helps.
