I know it is a little late, but gluten free means no wheat, barley or rye products. It does not, however mean no sugar. It is a much safer place to start because there will be no hidden breading, croutons or flour based fillers, but potentially still fruits and sugars.
A gluten free menu will usually list all of the ingredients and will be much simpler foods.
Hope this helps someone! I am very allergic to gluten and love to find restaurants I can eat at.
