If it was me, and you had eaten dinner, six hours had not gone by, if you are not hungry, don't eat. I agree with you on the counterintuitive. I caught myself analyzing my fitday nightly then playing around with it and eating to get the ratios and carb counts right. I stopped that, I eat till I'm satisfied and leave it go at that. I think you will find some days you are more hungry then others and if you average the days, you are right on the mark.
