On one hand, yes - when following the 2 cup salad and 1 cup other rule, it is "safe" not to count carbs. On the other hand, you will eventually need to move from Induction into OWL, and it becomes important to know exactly how many net carbs you are eating, so you can move up the rungs and find your individual CCLL (Critical Carbohydrate Level for Losing). So, you might as well get into the habit of doing it.
