Moving up the rungs is definitely advisable - it won't hurt

If you can find sugar-free (may have to order online) jerky or pepperoni sticks, they make ok snacks. I'm trying to avoid too much processed stuff, so I mostly use 1oz chunks of cheese for "emergencies". Lots of people use boiled eggs or devilled eggs as quick snacks too. Wrapping a piece of sandwich meat (watch the ingredients) around a celery stick, sugar-free dill pickle or piece of cheese is also a quick-fix.
