Another thing might be dehydration caused diarrhea. Make sure you drink plenty of water (pure water). Quote: |
I have a pretty bad case of diarrhea.
| This can be caused by several things: - you are not used to this amount of fat, and the extra fat is causing you problems (fat can be used as a remedy for constipation, btw); if this is the case, then your body will adjust in a few days
- you are eating more dietary fiber then you did before starting Atkins; again your body will adjust in a few days
- you are consuming sugar alcohols; are you eating Atkins bars, sugar free candies, etc.?
- you are consuming artificial sweeteners your body can't deal with; are you consuming any artificial sweeteners, especially diet sodas?
If it's one of the last two, then you should ditch the sweets. If it's one of the first two, then your body will adjust and there's also something you can do about it. You need some soluble fiber to add bulk to the stool. Psyllium husks are about 70% soluble fiber and should help. The amount you need should be adjusted depending on how things evolve, but I would start with something like 2-3 tbsp per day, spread between meals. You need to mix a tbsp in a glass of water (don't take them dry!) and also drink an extra glass of water afterwards. Then you can go up or down from there, once you see how your body reacts to it.
