It is very hard to not finish off what they leave on their plate (yes they are all men--no offence-- But I know that if I am going to be a happy healthy wife and mom I HAVE to do this. I am commited to doing this. Make a commitment to yourself. I have used that word a lot on this board so far, but i feel like people today in alot of situations (diet, marriage, work, etc.) don't use it enough. Make a contract with yourself and stick to it. You gave birth and are raising to 3 (amazing I am sure) children, this is a piece of steak, compared to that!!!!

Actually, you can change their meals. You just have to lay down the law: Mom's cooking 1 dinner. If you want to eat it, fine. If not, you'll go without until breakfast.

I work in a doctor's office and believe me, we see our fair share of moms (and dads) who are essentially short order cooks for their families. Their children are picky, picky, picky eaters who typically prefer chicken nuggets, french fries and mini-pizzas over real healthful food.

See what everyone likes. If the family likes chicken, then cook a basic chicken dish. Have vegetables for everyone. For the starchy carb eaters, provide them with that.

You can have "treat night" where they can have their specialized foods and menues. But the rest of the week--mama rules.

As for their plate leftovers, if they are old enough, train your men that after dinner, they are to take their plates and scrape off the remainders directly into the trash can or garbage disposal. You can train them to put their now empty dishes into the sink (and later on you can train them to wash, rinse and dry those dishes). Their future wives will thank you for it.
