use a dehydrator and dry mushrooms peppers onions ect then store them in zippies..also you can make your own jerky as many people here do ...I backpack as well Tickle and can bring a feast that would make your eyes pop out :yikes ...try backpack cream of mushroom soup...you can use the tiny cans of cream dried mushrooms my famous knorr cubes (I love the porccini ones) and some dried herbs and cracked pepper....all heated on the camp stove ....I keep a selection of freshly dried herbs, boullion cubes and spices all ready to go in tiny containers or mix your own seasoning salt ...I thinkk the backpacking foods are over priced and taste like crap...
you can use powdered eggs but I carry fresh ones already broken in a plastic container cheese travels well in a back pack...if you are there low carb torillas are the bomb...oh and nuts ..coconut ...pine nuts...
I plan one big meal a day for the pm and then have great snacks for the rest of the day.....celery and cream cheese with olives....there are so many things.....that can be slipped into the backpack and still leaves room for my beer and wine!!!! LOL |
