| Glad you're so happy with this way of eating and the way it makes you feel. Awesome that you have a lovely family to enjoy your increasingly better health with. Isn't Atkins just the best?? I too feel more energised than I had for years, pre-Atkins. Just the other day my twenty-one year old son told me that his friends always say to him: "Wow, your mum is a bella donna!" when they meet me. That never, ever used to happen. It made my day, and though I reckon it's a big exaggeration... I do look different from the way I'd looked from years... since childbirth, actually. My before and afters... Gotta love Atkins and . Here's to the 50's!!!

| Stopped by to check on my thread. This forum is about as popular as Chocolate Covered Watermelon Seeds. Headed back to Journal Chats. Yes, I'm guilty of not coming in here also. Sorry, Grizzly

| Chocolate covered anything is probably pretty popular stuff....especially if it's dark chocolate. I'm more of a pumpkin seed guy myself. Q

| DO you find as you are losing, that wrinkles show up a little more, since shrinking fat cells let the skin go loose. Well, rather have shrinking fat cells than obese ones. Grizzly

| What are your drawbacks to Atkins? Do you see yourself energy depleted during induction? My wife had that problem. Please respond to help me help her. What did you do to keep from getting that no energy feeling? Grizzly

| Hey Grizzly! I am a bona fide 50’s member (56) and I too could not manage on a strict induction for the two weeks. I was either fighting carb cravings like mad or had the shakes because I got hypoglycemic. And fatigue…..I remember one late afternoon driving home and crying because I felt so completely drained I just could not see how I was going to go home and do dinner and be pleasant to my family. Bottom line, I had to add more carbs. So I still stayed with the induction list foods, but added 10 net more carbs and I was O.K. after that. What I had to convince myself is that this was not some kind of endurance contest; rather it was a way to start the Atkins process. After all, Induction is just the first step. I also found that the rule “never let the tank get to empty” kept me from giving up and binging on carbs. Took a while to learn that!!! Some of us are a bit slow! Essentially, eat every three hours until just three hours before bedtime. The in-between mini-meals were always high load fat. High fat and high fiber. The fiber filled me up and the fat kept me satiated. Hope this helps.

| Thanks a million. I had to stop at one time and made her eat part of a snickers bar. Sounds crazy but, she was feeling better in about 30 minutes.

| Was over at a friend's house, last night. She insisted that we eat some of her homemade pumpkin roll. How do you not hurt their feelings but, if they don't understand your eating habit, they act as if you are weird or showing off. I don't know, it's hard to explain; as long as you are not losing weight, you make them look good because, you are bigger than them. What gives with that???
