Smile New to this forum ...

Hello, I'm a 50+ second-timer to Atkins. Since my first time on Atkins (in 2003) I've successfully lost weight on NutriSystem and Weight Watchers. I also lost on Atkins ... my problem is not losing weight, but maintaining. Bet you've all heard that before.

The Atkins website that I used 5 years ago, has dramatically changed format and products, so I'm looking for Atkins and/or low-carb support groups. This one looks like it could work for me. Let me hear from you!

Hi
Welcome to the forum

Did you stay on induction all the time when you did Atkins previously or climb the OWL carb ladder and discover your CCLL?

My husband and I stayed on the 2 week induction, and then slowly followed the program as designed. It took us quite a while to begin losing, but it finally kicked in after about 3 weeks. We both lost about 30 lbs., but then we fell off the wagon and went back to our old habits. The reason we've returned to the Atkins program is because we both love meat and dairy products, so it works fairly well for us.

You've done very very well on Atkins. How do you stick with it so long?

Also, how did you add your ticker to your signature. I can't get it to work.

I think that unless you are a 'supporting member' you can only have one image in your signature, and the ticker would count as an image as well as your little dog picture

I suppose because I was so very heavy before Atkins I dont want to risk putting those pesky pounds back on again

Also I find that I dont really miss anything like bread, pasta, rice and sweet things, so it is really not a struggle when I can eat so many other foods that I like.

I do sometimes make 'bread' using Atkins-legal ingredients like linseed (flax) and ground almonds or the revolution rolls from DANDR so I can have an occasional bacon sandwich or a bun with my hamburgers. And there are many other substitutes like 'caulirice' instead of real rice.

Hello and welcome!

I think that after a while, as Elizellen says, you no longer miss the carby "treats" like bread, pasta, sugary desserts so much. That certainly happened for me. I also think that finding good substitutes for the foods you used to love is also a huge help. If you eat things you really like, you don't feel deprived. Flax crackers with cheese or butter hit the spot for me, and I don't miss bread at all. For pasta, I occasionally go the Dreamfields road...but less and less.

If you stick with it, it'll happen.

Okay, I'll give the ticker another shot. Thanks to all who have responded, and I love the support. BTW, where do you find Flax Crackers and are the really low in carbs? I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas.

One more thing, how do you turn on the HTML code?
