that fence SHOULD look nice....last year the old one literally fell down into the yard of the neighbor behind us....we had no choice - had to get a new fence...so $3,000.00 later that is what we have......that's why I didn't get to do any landscaping last year -- the fence took precedence over anything else.

| Can't take pictures of the garden today.... It's POURING. Also the rain has beaten down the mint and it is looking pretty scraggly. We have gotten almost 4" of rain already. |

| I spent almost the entire day working...and it felt good. I did 6 loads of laundry, mopped the kitchen & 2 bathroom floors. Mom has bronchitus so she is mainly in bed and up a few minutes at a time. I made vegetable beef soup for her and DH because it's cold and because it's something I knew mom would eat. I kept out some of the roast beef from the soup and had it for dinner tonight, along with a salad and the end of my fried cabbage from the other night. It was a wonderful dinner!! We are under a severe winter weather advisory -- we are suppose to have up to 4 inches of snow tonight....I mowed on Monday and 6 days later it's suppose to snow...ridiculous!

| Carole, how is your weather? Hope you aren't having a power outage or other problems from the storm. Just wanted to tell you... I have adopted your suggestion of eating 1 ounce of meat dipped in mayonnaise when I am hungry between meals. It works! |

Glad to hear the meat & mayo worked for you -- it's been a lifesaver here several times! We had snow last night and woke up to it this morning but by 1:00 it was all gone....we ended up with temps in the 50's this afternoon so it was nice but it's very wet from all the snow. We didn't have any power outage here just a nice light snow. ![]()

| We had bitter cold this year, but didn't get any snow to speak of. None that stuck, anyway. What did your doggie (forgot her name) think of it? I made the coolest recipe tonight. Wanted something with chicken that tasted really good. Thought of doing parmesan fried chicken, but didn't want the extra salt and calories. So I sauteed bok choy, squash, mushrooms, tomato and jalapenos in garlic and ginger oil. Then I coated the chicken with Chinese 5 spice powder, then browned it in oil with garlic and ginger, added a little water and simmered it until the water was gone. There were just a couple of tablespoons of pan juice left. So I put the veggies on a platter, mixed a couple of drops of splenda with the chicken pan juices (cause sweet accents the Chinese 5 spice powder), then put the chicken on top of the veggies and drizzled with the sweetend pan juices, and drizzled a little sesame oil over everything. It was YUMMY. Rave reviews from DH, too. |

| Another week gone -- tomorrow is the end of the weigh/no weigh challenge. My hands are swollen tonight so I'm really doubting I've lost anything this week. Tomorrow we go to Sam's Club for a few things (I buy the jumbo package of broccoli there, it's less stems than any other place I've seen so it's easy to eat. I picked the first spear of asparagus from our garden and ate it today -- I made sure i didn't eat any other asparagus (from the store) with it so I could savor the taste -- it was good! My blood glucose numbers have really gone down in the last couple weeks, since I went back on re-induction. This is the first week of Rung 1 for me and I am enjoying the additional veggies everyday. I'm really starting to believe that the more veggies I eat the more I like them. I am not getting tired of anything I'm eating which is good because that has been my downfall in the past - boring routine meals - but that doesn't happen with Atkins because there is such a variety of food to eat. I plan to stay on Rung 1 another week then progress on. I think the last time I went through the rungs I didn't give my body time to catch up with the foods I was starting to eat and the fact that I was sick for so long didn't help either! Ok, I'm rambling so I'm gone
