I was on Atkins 30 years ago and was successful for 10 years but then got into carbs because everyone said it was "healthier". You know, I remember the hard times Dr. Atkins had through the years, everyone calling him a quack. Now he has been vindicated in the press (although there are still some who don't believe). But I remember reading him saying that "his patients" were the thing that always kept him going. He was a revolutionary and a true leader. I wish he were around now to really see his "revolution". You posting inspired me when you said, "Dr. Atkins saved my life" - it brings tears to my eyes because I have lost 5 pounds now after an 80 pound weight gain and I know that this way of eating will save my life, too.
