Atkins is about healthy carbs, and adding them back in CORRECTLY, in a certain order. Nowhere does DANDR say that corn chips are a healthy food.
I think what Danniel is noticing is the GI, or glycemix index of certain foods.
Corn products and potatoes are Rung 8, Wine/beer is Rung 5, Beans are Rung 6. If done correctly, an Atkins follower reintroduces these foods during OWL. The foods are re-introduced based on the impact of blood sugar, or glycemic index. However, refined sugars and flours are not added back in.
But, your body doesn't know if you consumed actual sugar or a food with natural sugars. Carbs are processed as carbohydrates, regardless of where they come from.
