Default Re: New and going low!

Hi Aberger,

Welcome to and particularly, the Diabetic Forum!!

First of all, do you have Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) (Version 2002)? If not, it's must reading.

Another good book is Dr. Atkins Diabetes Revolution.

In the 2nd book, (on page 216) it is stated that going too long without eating can trigger a drop in blood sugar.
Quote:
Try not to go more than four (4) waking hours without a meal or a protein snack - a slice of turkey, a chicken drumstick, or a small piece of cheese for instance.
As far as fruit juice vs. soda goes: According to Dr. A, fruit juice can be high in carbs and soda (even diet) is not the greatest either. (That's not to say you can't have any.)

Your best bet would be to have a protein snack and make sure that you have 8 8-ounce glasses per day.
