Couple of things....
1. Wine is
NOT a part of the Atkins Induction Plan.
2. Heavy cream and sour cream is listed in the "Special Foods" category on the Induction Acceptable Foods list: "one ounce of sour cream
OR 3 ounces of heavy cream". One ounce of sour cream is about 2 tablespoons (measured using a standard cooking measuring spoon.) And the Special Category foods are in that special category because they have been known to derail weight loss for some people.
The thing about fat is this: it has 2 times the calories of carbs or protein. During Atkins we don't count calories, but they do matter. The metabolic advantage of Atkins only works if you go over your daily caloric needs by a couple hundred calories (about 2 tablespoons of salad dressing or mayonnaise). If you eat more, your weight loss might be affected. As we progress through Atkins, our fat percentage decreases as we add carbs. By the time we reach Maintanance phase, fat will be about 50% of our total calories.
Also during any phase we only eat the amount of food that satisfies our hunger for that meal. So there will come a point when you have to ask yourself, do I really need to eat 3 burger patties in order to satisfy my hunger or is my hunger satisfied after eating 1 or 1 1/2?
