I am going to be breastfeeding, God willing, and I was told by the doctor and a lact. consultant that most women have problems breast feeding/keeping milk supply is because they mistakenly start cutting carb and calories after birth for weight loss or whatever reason. They said in order for me to keep a good supply of milk I needed to keep up the same guidleines of the pregnancy diet. Meaning, I have to maintain eating 300 more calories than prepregnancy to keep my milk supply up, which they recommend you do to keep healthy during pregnancy. Hope that helps!
