Howdy! I know this question was posted a while back, but for those curious I just thought that I would say what I do to stay from going low. BTW I am a type 1 diabetic also. To keep from going low I dramatically cut back my insulin intake. For example my normal dose is 1unit of insulin for every 10 grams of carbs. When on atkins I bump mine up to 1 unit of insulin for every 20 grams of carbs...so I really don't have to take any insulin...which is great and I feel like I am saving money. Hope this helps some!
