Re: For those starting Atkin's on 7/7/2008. | | Mornin' all (at least for me).
HEIRIKA (and anyone else interested) - I used to have a small bakery out of my home. I did all the usual stuff, decorated cakes and made stuff for low carb, glutan intolerance, and any allergy that wasn't life threatening. That said, one man came to me for low carb items. He said he had lost 30 lbs so far on Atkins (6 months), lowered his cholesterol, and is now NOT insulin dependent. I took that as proof that Atkins is what it claims to be.
Well, I did it anyway. I weighed myself. First thing in the morning when I get up, so I can compare all the weigh ins equally. Like I said, I can fluctuate several pounds normally. So, with that in mind, I have lost 3-6 lbs. The first time I've been under 160 lb in quite some time. I've been practically obsessed with that number!
I had to cut short last night because DH came to look over my shoulder. He is very skeptical about Atkins and VERY wary of any exchange of info/conversation on the internet. I didn't feel like hearing about it, so I logged off. I explained my reasons for doing it. I told him I didn't get the support/help from him and going here helps. It wasn't a negative conversation. But, sometimes I just need to state things the way I see it. He can be, no IS, a very strong personality (i.e. opinionated, judgemental, stuff-shirted, black and white) but I love him and it works for us! Don't get me wrong, no one has EVER called me meek, mild or tactful for that matter. We've been married almost 16 years and a number of those years have been very volatile. But we have come to a place where we each give and take where needed and are very happy. I once told him that I didn't know that marriage was supposed to be this way. (second time around and raised in dysfunctional family--in other words, no role models) But, I digress. (this kind of info/conversation is what I would prefer him not to see only because I would get lectured about giving too much info out)
BREAKFAST (so far) - 2 hardboiled eggs, 2 TB flaxseed meal hot cereal with 1/2 TB heavy cream. No plans for the rest of the day, but parmesan chicken sounds good (just need to get it out of the freezer)
I just have to relate this--I think it amusing. Two posts ago, I kinda cut it short again. My dog, the male lab, was laying a few feet away and rolled over on to his back. What makes this special is that I taught him to do that for attention. I call it "Bat Dog". He knows he will get lovin' when he does it. Not just some little pets, either. I crawl on top of him, lean down and talk sweet nothings to him. Yeah, he gets lots of pets, too. The other ones now follow suit. The chocolate female ALWAYS come and mooches lovin's. He's a big baby(100 lb worth). I was going to write about this last night, but DH came up on me.
Now, not rushing, but time to go. My hot cereal has cooled off enough to eat!!
