This time my question is about vegetables. In the book Dr A talks about having either just salad veggies, or some salad and some 'other' less than 10% veggies (e.g. broccoli).

Is it ok for me to have mainly non-salad veggies as long as they're from the less than 10% list? I've had 2oz of peppers today so far and a small tomato. I've been saving most of my veggie-carbs for dinner when I planned to have quite a big portion of broccoli and cauliflower with my roasted chicken...all smothered with butter (yum). Is this ok?

There are 20 vegetables on that "salad" list. So you have quite a variety from which to choose.

By the way, the tomato is listed as an "other" vegetable in the 2002 ed. of the Diet (which is the one we use here on ADBB.) If that "small" tomato was 1 cup, you have already eaten your "other" vegetable allotment for the day.

As for "saving up" your carbs---bad idea. A. Very. Very. Bad. Idea. Atkins weight loss is based in part on your insulin-blood sugar response. You want to keep your blood sugar as stable as possible. That's why Dr. Atkins said to spread your carbs out over the course of the day.
