Default Re: Teenage Daughter Diagnosed with Type 1

My niece was diagnosed type 1 a few months ago. She was extremely thin, however, she has gradually put on about 10-15 pounds eating relatively lower carbohydrate food. She will have the occasional sweets but not that often and I know for a fact that her meals are not 75 carbs (that would be 7 units of isulin for her!!). Her doctors did say that she can eat whatever she wants however cautioned her against it due to having to have so much insulin to counteract it. Either way, I think it is the insulin that helps with the weight gain instead of calories per say.
