Default Hello new here

Hi,

My name is Brightstar7801 and I am new here. I am going to start Induction tomorrow. I am a member of two lo-carb boards. One is a board with recipes, and the other is a lo-carb board that is geared towards maintenance. I am excited to be here.

Now that the introductions are out of the way I'll go into my story. I am 30 years old, married, and currently overweight. I used to be very skinny. I had to fight to get to 120lbs at one time. But throughout college I was about 136-142. I ate whatever I wanted (usually meat and veggies, and fruit juices, and at times ice cream during the hot months). I did eat fast food (my weaknesses were McDonald's French Fries, and taco bell crunchy tacos). But for the most part I didn't eat too many starchy foods in undergrad.

But that changed when I went to grad school and met my future husband. I was always pretty fit, and I usually dated fit guys as well. My husband on the other hand was fit but had gained weight. Well when started dating I gained weight rapidly. Being with him I didn't have to worry about my weight or eating for that matter, so that 142 went to 150, then to 160, then to 167. After I graduated I managed to lose weight when we were apart and I accepted a job in another state. In two months I managed to lose 19lbs because I was walking everyday (I was in outside sales), and I wasn't eating out everyday.

Well the weight came back on again after we got married. Again within a year I was at 181lbs. I was very frustrated and my husband would always tell me I love you the way you are. Usually that would make anyone happy, but not me. I knew how I used to look and I wanted to get down to that weight again. I had enough and decided to start walking again and got down to 160lbs just by walking an hour everyday. I then went on the 6 week body makeover diet. I lost 22 lbs in 6 weeks, but I couldn't stay on the diet because I could use NO salt at all not even a little. So I dropped it. I've done South Beach and did fine on the induction phase, I was in a car accident and lost weight because I broke my jaw and couldn't eat. Well I was able to maintain 147-155 for almost two years.

I started gaining weight again when we moved. We ate out too much, and I loved mashed potatoes, margaritas, beer, and threw caution to the wind when it came to rice, salty chips, and baked potatoes as well. So my weight got up to 176. I managed to gain 30lbs within 6 months of moving. So here I am. I am currently 164 right now. I was doing the crack the fat loss code and I was still hungry. It's premise is 20 carbs or less but the protein servings were too small for me and I was still hungry. So I am hoping that with this board (the book as well), and my other two boards for recipes and friends, I hope to lose this weight once and for all.

I do know that I have a pretty high carb allowance. For instance I can rice and starches, BUT I cannot eat them alone. But I have a long way to go before I am at that point again.

Sorry the story is so long! I am a bit long winded at times.
