| Thanks for the great answer Jimmie. I did go to Fitday after reading your post and now post everything there. I also have my 2002 book so I've been right into that. I'm so glad this board is here, it really helps with menus, recipes and morale! I'm afraid my most fav thing to cook is homemade bread (from scratch) filled with flax seed, bran, wheat germ, oatmeal and whatever other grain I have at the time. But since I've always made my own bread, it isn't hard not to eat it (thank goodness!) and I can freeze it for guests. I must check Fitday to see if I can input a recipe, then I can find out the net carbs for the future. (more research comin' up!) Thanks again Jimmie Suzanne

| MMmmmmm - that Loaded Cauli recipe reminds me of a similar dish I do with Turnips... http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...rnip-bake.html (Tasty Turnip Bake) WARNING - some more recipe links follow below - I haven't vetted them for Atkins/Induction/OWL rungs, so you'll need to check them yourself, if you want to give them a try. I saw the Bitter Melon/Bitter Gourd at the supermarket yesterday - in the freezer section of the 'Authentic Foreign Foods' section. It was sliced, and also known as 'karela.' Some recipes and ideas here Discussion: How Do You Cook Karela? - VideoJug (Food & Drink: Indian Cuisine) The other veggies I looked at - apparently dhudi is similar to a courgette, but more bitter, tindori are similar to gherkins, (Tindori/Tindora - A small oval, green vegetable, popular on the Indian Sub-Continent; and now occasionally found in Britain. It can be eaten raw in salads, used in pickles - or sliced and sautéed) My Cookbook: Kovakkai/Tindora masala Tendle butthi - Tindora curry Recipe | ifood.tv Tendle Bibbe Upkari (Tindora Cashew Fry) Recipe | ifood.tv and the third one I can't find - I think I might have remembered the name wrong! Mitzi - I have been having a lot of rhubarb - as I grow it myself. I stew mine until soft and then serve it with greek yoghurt and a little splenda, for a dessert. Pre-Atkins I used to need loads of sugar with it, as it is a sharp flavour, but now I find I need only a small amount of 'sweetness' with it. Will report in later with my figures for today. | Hi CP, we also use rhubarb. I hope my daughter's patch is big enough for both of us! I stewed some frozen rhubarb yesterday, then added a package of strawberry Jello Light. I let it set in the fridge then served it with whipped cream. Nice change for breakfast. (there are no carbs in the Jello Light) Today I was giving my men pumpkin smoothies for breakfast. I use whipping cream thinned with water, an egg, spices, splenda & 1/2 cup pumpkin. Yummy!

| Yummmm - pumpkin... I'm growing some this year, as I am struggling to find it over here. There will be loads in October for Hallowe'en of course, but at the moment I can't even find it canned! Boo-hoo. Anyway, my figures for today.... Lunchtime I had a ham salad with mixed salad leaves and rocket (arugula), tomatoes, cucumber, sweet pepper, radishes, home-made coleslaw with cabbage, onion and orange pepper. This evening - sea-food night - mussels in garlic lemon mayo on more salad leaves, alfafa sprouts, toms, and cucumber, followed by garlic/chilli/lemongrass prawn stir-fry with daikon, cabbage, peppers, courgette (zucchini) onion and mushrooms. Tried my new veggie - daikon/mooli - very tasty - kept a nice 'bite' to the texture when stir fried. I still have one left, so will probably try the fried daikon/mooli chips posted by Mitzi. Total net carbs = 23. A bit afternoon/evening heavy on veggie carbs, as I had a mock danish for breakfast with no veg, but I will do better tomorrow Miss, and have veggies at all three meals! ![]() CP |

| Is rhubarb a veggie? I've always used it like a fruit.

| It is used more like a fruit - but it's on the 'other veggie' list, and apparently, technically it is classified as a veggie because it is the stem that is used. Rhubarb Background - all you ever wanted to know about rhubarb, and probably a lot you didn't! CP |

| I've always assumed it was a fruit! Glad I can use it to count as my veggies now
