You know what I've found? I keep going backwards, reading and re-reading sections! I seem to be so focused on Atkins right now, I keep looking for clues/pointers in previous chapters. I've re-read the chapter on diseases twice this week! At this rate it'll be December by the time I'm done, lol.

Finished Part 4, finally! Thanks so much for the challenge. I'm really glad I took part in it. It's good to have read the book all the way through. My dh is doing Atkins as well, but hasn't read the book yet. I found myself often quoting things to him that I had read.

The only recipe I have tried from the book was the Cajun Pork Chops. They were pretty good, but what's not to like about fried pork chops in butter and oil?

fantastic! your reward is "in the mail"

i agree on the pork chops. i get alot of our meat from a local mennonite butcher place. the meat comes from the surrounding amish and mennonite farmers. some of the meats done up by the market are smoked and those smoked pork chops are one or our favorites!

OK...back again. Here's the rest of my Part 4 comments.

Chapter 26, Food Intolerances


Interesting but I have special dietary restrictions already due to my IC issues. Did an elimination diet a year ago to narrow down real problem foods. That was fun. NOT!

Chapter 27, Lifetime Protection for Your Heart

Wow. This chapter was very informative and to be honest, I did not retain ONE thing in it. This is one of those medical reference type things that I will have to re-read again (and again) when I want to know more heart stuff.

Chapter 28, Spreading the Word

I wish that atkinscenter website was still around. I’m not pleased with the info from the current atkins website and their focus on frankenfoods. I don’t see much activity on the Veronica Atkins site either. I hope to spread the word on Atkins (by DANDR) when my weight loss success is obvious.

This is a very cool idea and I plan to do it after I’ve been in Maintenance for a while.

Comments on Part 5, Recipes: Have to say that I was somewhat disappointed in a lot of the recipes. Many of them use Atkins Baking Mix as well as thickening products and items such as low carb tortillas and seem to be geared towards those in Maintenance or at least in the upper rungs. Still, there are some good recipes and ideas in there but I wish the Induction-friendly ones were marked like Linda Sue does.
