Unhappy Went slightly over my carb limit

Hi all! I started the 14 day induction today and my motivation is really high so far! I'm feeling guilty right now though because I went over my carb limit by about 2-3 carbs (darn ranch dressing!) and it almost feels like I've failed. (again)

Do you guys think those extra 2-3 carbs will stop the induction from working properly?

Of course not. Your CCLL is probably a fair amount higher than 20 net grams so it should not be an issue. Just continue on plan.
If you continue on a clean Induction you will be fine.

And get over being perfect. None of us is perfect, ever. The folks that cannot accept imperfection are the ones that fall off the wagon. Cut yourself some slack and just do the best you can each day. Do not get hung up on every misstep. It serves no purpose.

Every choice you make each day either brings you closer to goal or further away from it.

All I can tell ya is... the world didn't end here in New Mexico with your oversight... and I don't think it will on your end either...and here's the reality... over by a couple of carbs today, under by a couple of carbs tomorrow... it all averages out in the end. However, ya can't go over everyday and find your true CCLL once you go into OWL... chinadoll is right... during induction you're most likely way under your critical carb level for losing weight... so a carb or two here and there won't really make a difference. You'll only find as you increase your carb levels during OWL do the five net carbs you add make a difference... over time... and it may take a couple of weeks to know how the increase of carbs are affecting you... Atkins is a slow process... it's not a crash diet. And any one who really wants to learn to control their weight forever... has all the time in the world to find the real keys to success... Atkins is not about any one day... it about changing our eating habits for life. So as long as you stay away from processed foods you know we shouldn't eat... continue to count your carbs... and accept imperfections as a way of life... you'll be a success. Dr. Atkins didn't expect perfection... he only wanted us to understand how to eat in a way that let's us enjoy food and become healthy again... while breaking old eating habits that were killing us... pretty cool if ya ask me. Best wishes to ya and take care... there isn't enough time in life to feel guilty... especially over a couple of carbs... and that's a fact.

Jill is right. You are setting yourself up for a fall if you are looking for perfection. If you aren't perfect with this WoE it will allow yourself to say, "Oops, not perfect. I guess I am a failure." ...And there goes the attempt to stick with it and follow the plan.

In the beginning you may make mistakes, but learn by them and move on. This is as much about learning 'the hows and whys we eat the way we do', as actually eating the correct foods following Atkins.

Do the best you can following the book as it is written. You'll tweak things as you go customizing it to fit your life. Move up the rungs, and be kind to yourself.

Thank you all. I feel silly now, getting so upset over a couple of carbs. Thanks for the support!

I am much happier to see folks being too cautious than cavalier. Not silly at all.

After years and years of the "only way to lose weight is suffer/starve low calorie/low fat don't dare eat ONE more calorie than prescribd diet tyranny, it was hard to get used to the relative freedom of Atkins. A few carbs over once in a while won't hurt - as long as they are not "junk" carbs.
