    Unhappy when does it end???

    Hi all. I am day 5 of induction and have the energy of a sloth. I'm a runner and this lethargy is not doing much for my training. I'm sleeping better than I have for ages but can't seem to get enough. I feel a bit drugged all the time. Will this feeling end anytime soon? Not sure I can handle this for much longer.

    What are your stats? How much do you need to lose? How many carbs are you taking in every day? If you're seriously working out, you might need more carbs.

    And you need some patience
    It may take weeks for you body to be an effective fat burner (use ketosis instead of sugar burning)

    I'm an 160lb 50 year old woman wanting to lose 15-20lbs. Between quitting smoking twice and menopause it's really tough. I try to run 5-7km 3 times a week. I had a decent run yesterday but could barely manage 1.5km today. It's a perfect day to run here and I'm annoyed that I haven't got the energy to take advantage of it. BTW, haven't lost a single wretched pound yet. I'm training for a half marathon that's at the end of April. If this keeps up, I'll never make it. HELP!!!! PLEASE

    How many carbs are you taking in every day? Also, what kind of carbs are they? Are you strictly on Induction following it to the letter of law or are you incorporating variations here and there? If you're running that much and are generally in pretty good shape, you probably need to make sure you're in ketosis and then add more healthy carbs.

    I'm getting my carbs from salads, cooked veggies and the bits and pieces that are in eggs, cheese etc. Took 4 days but I'm finally in ketosis. Maybe that'll start things moving.

    No clue about my calorie intake. Been watching the carbs, not the calories. I'm not shying away from fats or protein.

    If things do not improve you may try to be more conscious about foods. Most people seriously undereat on Atkins and then give up on the diet after a few weeks

    You are not saying how many carbs. Well we do not have to share if we do not want to . However if you want us to give you direction we will need information.

    Many people undereat carbs as well = thinking that if less is good = really few would be even better
    But that is not quite how this diet is meant to be

    Take the time to truly track what you are eating. Everything. We recommend Fitday around here and some use FatSecret and My Fittness pal. All are online trackers, but you can also do it on your own.

    It's very important to know how many calories, your fat %, your total net carbs (total carbs - fiber) as a part of Atkins to make sure you're getting the right balance. If you're physically active such as running, this is even more important as your calorie and veggie carb amount will need to be higher.

    Take the time to start journaling your food online and have a detailed menu reviewed here. Folks here are great at making recommendations to match your optional plan for eating to lose weight and do Atkins correctly, especially based on your activity level.

    Also plan on moving onto OWL when your 2 weeks of Induction are up. As a runner, you'll benefit from the additional net carbs and more food options.
