Default Calculating Carbs-Fiber

I was looking at my fitday chart. Does fitday not take out the fiber when calculating carbs to get Net Carbs? Is that something we just figure out. I have an example......

For 2 cups of Salad Greens, Fitday calculates that as:

Total Carbohydrate 3.26g 1%

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dietary Fiber 2.38g 10%

When you add it to your meal, it doesn't deduct the fiber. Is it fair to say that I can deduct 2.38 from the total carbs for that day. Maybe keep it recorded on my journal or something?

Fitday does not subtract fiber when calculating carbs. And yes, you can just subtract the fiber. If you want, you can buy the Fitday software, and you can set it up to do the subtracting for you, among other things. HTH.

So basically, it is normal to subtract the fiber? I've been going by the raw carb count and yesterday when I added some Veggies it took me to 22 carbs. However, my net carb was 22-8=14grams. I guess I'm getting totally paranoid. I just want this so badly and I don't want to mess it up.

I just use the free version of fitday and subtract the fibre. If you're eating your 3 cups of veggies as per the rules of induction you really don't have to worry about going over. I think most people average in the 15 net carb area during induction. Remember 20 net carbs is the limit...you don't have to eat that many. It is important, however, to eat those three cups of veggies per day!

I just started subtracting the fiber yesterday which gave me 13 net carbs. Before that I was averaging between 13-15 carbs before subtracting fiber, and I wasn't getting enough vegetables. I think that's why I was having all the questions about vegetables. I could not seem to make it work. Now it is gradually coming together. I thought everyone was going on total instead of net.
