    Default week 1 induction - 3.3 pounds lost

    I just started my second week of induction and lost 3.3 pounds in the first one. Is it an okay loss?

    Hi Ralucax. It's hard to say whether 3.3 pounds is a good loss because every person is different. For instance, if you only need to take off 10 pounds total, then 3.3 pounds would be an astonishing accomplishment after only one week. On the other hand, if your initial weight were 400 pounds, then a loss of 3.3 in the first week might seem a little low.

    In short, perhaps you could tell us a little bit more about what your starting weight is and what your induction diet looks like, and we'd be able to give you better advice. Also, are you following the Atkins plan according the "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution" book?

    I'm a 23 years old female, 5 ft 9. I am now at 205 lbs (started at around 208 ). I follow the diet from an old Dr. Atkins book i found at a secondhand bookstore, but from what I've read online the actual diet doesn't change that much from version to version.
    I keep it religiously, highest number of carbs I've had in a day was 16 gr.

    What exactly are you eating? Are you getting your 3 cups of veggies/day and a minimum of 8 glasses of water? Sometimes, it's more about the ingredients than the carb count. This board follows DANDR 2002. Is that the old book you have?

    Anyway, welcome and congrats on the 3.3 lbs (probably more by now)

    If you're using one of the older books, then that's great. The newest version is quite a bit different, and though I think people are losing weight following it, you're much better off with the older one you have now.

    Given your current weight and your goals, I'd say 3.3 pounds is right on target for your first week of induction. Well done! Keep up the good work, and we look forward to seeing you on the board!
