Default Food ideas for 2-day camping trip

Okay. I need some thoughts on induction-friendly food for a two-day camping trip...stuff that I can either eat straight from the ice chest or heat over open fire.

I'm thinking bratz for evening meal, maybe some tuna salad (hold the pickles, please) for lunches. Maybe some boiled shripmp. Of course, eggs and sausage for breakfast.

Thoughts? Dang. It's about this time that I really miss sandwiches.

Hi.

Check out the Low Carb Menues forum (all the way in the Food section of this board). There are a couple of threads dealing with this.

tuna in pouches
boiled eggs, fried eggs (if you have an ice chest and a frying pan in camp)
tuna in pop top cans or regular canned tuna (bring a can opener)
beef jerky
cooked meats (again if you have that ice chest)
pepperettes
precooked bacon you buy at the store

I can't think of anymore (I miss camping)

Have fun and take a fishing rod if you are near a good lake. :yes

Re: sandwiches.

Look in the stickie at the top of this forum called "Induction Recipe Basics". That has an Induction friendly recipe for a low carb hamburger bun/roll and a wrap.

I use these frequently for my work sandwiches and sandwiches I take on weekend trips.

- Deviled Eggs (Boy, I love these)
- Pork Rinds (Pretty salty, so your mileage may vary!)
- Homemade crab dip with cuke slices or pork rinds used as makeshift "chips"
- A veggie platter with Ranch dip that you either purchase at the store, or toss together yourself
- Buffalo wings
- Pork ribs (My favorite - a tiny bit of liquid smoke goes a long way)
- Romaine lettuce leaves used as makeshift bread to make sandwiches. You could roast a turkey or duck and slice it up into convenient slices beforehand. Don't forget cheese, mayo, tomatoes, and whatever sandwich "innards" you're into!

These are just a few food ideas - there are so many possibilities for camping!! Please remember to keep everything as fresh as possible (of course you know that lol) to avoid getting sick. HAVE FUN!!!

Meatball recipe:

4 oz of hamburger
4oz of sauage
1 egg
1/4 cup of onions chopped
1/4 cup of peppers chopped
2 tbls of cream cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Directions: Mix hamburger, sauage, onions, peppers together and make desired size meatballs. Poke hole in center of each one and put in the cream cheese and close up...

Fry over flames if using a frying pan or put them on a stick and cook that way...

Can prepare them before you go and put them in a freezer bag and put on ice.

Just made this one up in my head just now and sounds so good. Johnny :guns

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Two winners actually: meatballs & buffalo wings. I usually do some sort of lettuce-wrapped burger, but am in dire need of something different and this should do the trick. Thanks for the replies.

For snacks that dont have to be chilled I often make cheese 'crackers'
Just make small piles of grated cheese or cubes of cheeses and either microwave or put in the oven till crispy.
They keep well in an airtight container or sealed bag.

Those meatballs sound good. I think I will have those for dinner tomorrow night....or maybe lunch.
