Default advice for lethargy please

Hi
I am now onto my 3rd week of induction. weight loss has been really good and i havent cheated once.

My problem is tiredness- now i expected this in the beguinning but its still here 3 weeks on. i have to go to bed by 9 at night and even then its a struggle. I have read another thread on here, about tiredness- but i do drink at least 2 litres of water a day, i take a goodmulti vit without iron. I eat the recommended veg/salad per day.

I was a coffee addict and that has been my hardest part of atkins but again i havent cheated but wondered if it was still my body being used to that caffeine to kick start me off.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alison

Drink more water for starters....2 liters is the minimum. The general rule is 64 ounces of water plus 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you need to lose.

I'm thinking that it'll pass in time...I was very low energy for a loooong time, and it did finally go away. I kept hearing about the 'burst of energy!' that you get, and I wondered where it was!

Try a little bit of exercise...walking is really good...and just hang in there. One day you'll wake up and realize that you are back to normal.

Yes I was going to ask, wheres the exercise? Thats when you'll notice the biggest increase in energy.

This WOE has a blood pressure lowering effect as well which can sap your energy. Going for a walk will help. Also, you may be losing electrolytes and need to replenish them. Take one potassium supplement and calcium/magnesium in addition to your multi.

Default Try Tea

If you are that tired feeling. More than likely you will return to Coffee. Try brewing some tea in your coffee maker (I put 4 tea bags in the place where you put the coffee/filter, then pour in the water and brew up some tea) I quit drinking coffee, but I switched to tea without any side effects. Of course the tea probably has almost as much caffeine as the coffee, but if you must drink caffeine, I think Tea is better for you. I just sweeten a cup with a couple of drops of liquid splenda that you can get here

Please do not try and combat this by adding caffiene back into your diet.

Stick to decaf coffee and decaf tea, and hang in there, because it'll pass.
Caffiene can be known to stall and since there are delicious decaf alternatives to drink out there now, there's no need to consider adding it back it. You aren't achieving anything that way.

I so agree. Caffeine is unhealthy and you don't need it now. Give your body time to adjust to a fat burning metabolism on its own. That takes longer for some than others.

Drink WATER WATER WATER, exercise as you can, and yes, definitely take the vitamins!!

HANG TOUGH!

Default tea

I'm just being realistic and suggesting a healthier alternative if the person feels inclined to return to coffee. You can use the tea, then gradually cut back on how strong you make it and how many cups you drink a day.
If I drink any too close to bed time, then I can't sleep. However, I just re-read the original post, and after 3 weeks without caffeine its probably not the caffeine that is causing the problem.

Thanks for all the advice.

exercise is probably the way to go- i really dont do enough what with working fulltime and having a 7 year old to look after when im not working ( excuses excuses !)...so this i willl try and increase daily.

I do drink a lot of water and my eyes and skin really look better for this.

Caffeine in any form is out- it was agony coming off it and i wont ever go back, i now dont have the throbbing head aches, palpitations and flushed face that usually came mid afternoon.

I've did well and lost 14 lbs in weight and now even though i have cheated once, have hit a wall of 0 weight loss in the past week- and came to my own conclusion that it was excerise.

Thanks again, i will let you know how i get on
