Default I just want to cry

The first 4 days of Induction, and I thought I was doing great, in spite of small hicups-- thank you for the encouragement.

But yesterday, disaster struck. I woke up and started vomiting, then feeling really weak. Couldn't hardly move. A friend came over and ended up taking me to the doctor and he tested my blood sugar. It hit rock bottom!!! It was so low the doctor was amazed I was still upright. Knowing that I started this WOE, he told me to go off Atkins for the day(which i didn't, totally, but ate a few carb-loaded items and it helped last night) and stablize my sugars before trying again. All this while he made me sit there and drink an OJ to bring them up.

So I am starting the induction again this morning, but any suggestions how I can keep from going into this kind of shock again?? I do suffer from insulin resistance.

:no :no :no I want so much to succeed, and I feel like my body is letting me down :no :no :no

Hi, assuming you were about 20 carbs I have found in dandr that it allows you to go to 25 if you are just feeling too terrible on 20. I can try to find it in dandr for you but it took me so long last time.

Since you are dealing with specific medical issues here, perhaps you might talk to your doctor about going to see a dietician or nutritionist.
In the meantime, try upping your carbs as suggested. Remember, that there are good carbs out there, like the ones in vegetables that we are encouraged to eat, so no need to avoid them.

Also, make sure you eat at least every four to six hours. This can help keep your blood sugars level, which is a key point in Atkins.

just wondering, are you hypoglycemic? I'm no expert but maybe if you up your carbs to 25-30 and take the L-Glutamine and Chromium it will help.

I would suggest eating vegetables a little higher on the glycemic index, just to stabalise the blood sugars for about 3 days. Its not totally to induction but for you I would advise.

the same thing happens to nicotine addicts.

I second Moochiecat's suggestion to ask your doctor to organise a consultation with a dietician.
Without a knowledge of your medical issues none of us can really know what your body needs at this stage in your life.

expert advice is needed definently.

With your blood sugar being that low in the morning ,i suggest that you should try eating something later on at night before going to bed.
Regular small meals wil also help along with the small increase in carb allowance.

Also try keeping something beside your bed to eat first thing in the morning if you do feel hypoglycemic.
