| girl im with you there...I don't really know how to cook, but I am learning and lately have made some pretty good dishes! Just follow recipes exactly...don't try to "power cook" things by using a higher temp and less time...it always screws things up! haha that's what I always did...Heavy cream is by the milk, usually in a small milk carton, like a pint or half pint. It will say Heavy Cream or Heavy Whipping cream...don't worry I never bought any before I started atkins either :-p

By the way, if you are a new cook or don't know much about cooking, I highly recommend that you purchase a liquid measuring cup, a set of "dry" measuring cups and measuring spoons. This will aid tremendously in properly measuring your foods. Some folks are really surprized at the amount of 1 cup loosely packed lettuce really is. Likewise, they are equally surprized at the actual amount of 1 tablespoon of salad dressing or mayonnaise.

| I am a horrible cook! No lie. I suggest that if you don't have one - invest in a George Foreman Grill. It comes with a little booklet that tells you exactly how long to cook things. Everything comes out nice and juicy. If I cook on the stove, its dry and barely edible :no |

| I'm a great cook, from generations of great southern cooks, but it doesn't take a great cook to create some tasty Atkins meals. If you don't know what you're doing, it may be worth investing in a basic 'how to' cooking book that covers simple stuff. There are also loads of low carb cookbooks out there. I don't have any human kids, just dogs, but I have 3 nieces and 3 nephews and as they've grown up, I've always had fun kitchen time with all of them, teaching them how to cook, bake, make candy, etc.... If you've got relatives or friends who know how to cook, see if they'll let you hang out with them and pick up some tips! Once you get the basic know-how's down pat, you can experiment and create dishes that you like and before you know it, you'll be a great cook too! :yes |
