| Ok, here goes! Boarshead meats make a lot of lunch meats without sugars. Ask at your deli. The turkey and salami are good. Cream cheese is fine. I buy Philadelphia brand in blocks, maybe 2 a week. Or the grocery store generic, that's also good. Other cheeses are brie, cheddar, munster, havarti, feta, etc. Try different ones - get to know the world of cheese! Some hot dogs are ok. Hebrew National is good. Check the recipes threads for different foods to prepare. There are tons. Some staples that I always, always have around are: string cheese, black olives, artichoke hearts packed in oil, devilled eggs, raw spinach, tuna packed in oil, parmesan cheese (to use with fried veggies, especially), zuchini, blue cheese and ranch dressings, boneless chicken. You can do this! Keep asking questions!

| you want to avoid the added sugars in the ingredients list. the sugars in the nutritional lable can be natural sugars like the milk sugar in the cream cheese or in fruits and veggies. Good for you checking your lables. some companies add carby fillers to their foods and other use just a touch as a seasoning like boarshead does. Ususally the cheaper the deli meat the more fillers in it.

| Well I guess that in order for this to work perfectly, I will give up my heat-n-serve saugsage Another question, is chicken\beef bouillon ok to snack on? I have Knorr and it says per 1\2 cube (makes 1 cup) it is less than 1g of carbs and sugar. But if I do find another kind without sugar, is that ok? I've boiled alot of eggs so Im good to go with that, but sometimes I crave soup-ie things. I have my brick cheese also on stand-by. So I think im good to go. I found a Cheesy Chicken Broccoli casserole recipe from one of the sites posted on here. It sounds wonderful! Im going to make that tonight. I know i've said this 8billion times but if the ingredients says sugar, is that a definate NO, or just keep the sugar low? I looked at my bacon when I got home yesturday and it said it was cured with sugar and salt and things. So, basically everything in my fridge is wrong! ohhhhh.....one more. Those sticks...that you can use to see if your in "fat-burning mode", what are those called and where do I get them??? I looked at Walmart, but couldn't find them, since I didn't know what they were called. I was to embarrased to ask b\c im not sure what they are used for other than low-carb dieting. thanks again!

| They are called Ketostix in some places. Diabetics use them, too. I find mine at Costco in a big costco-size jar and they also sell them near the diabetics section, along with the weight loss section. Here's a link so that you can see what typically the bottles look like (at least the bottles that I buy look like these): http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/ketostix.html

| Don't forget to count the carbs in your eggs. Each egg has .6 carbs in it. Also remember you are limited to 3 oz of cheese each day. |

| The reason we are told to shop in the outer perimeter of the grocery store is because that's where all the fresh and natural stuff is...prepackaged foods tend to have forbidden contents. Yes, no sugar. none. Avoid any product that contains it. No matter how trace. Soup is good. Get soup that has no added fillers or sugars. Instead of boullion, get canned soups if they are not containing those bad things. Or make your own..... I know this is frustrating, but one of the things that ends up happening on this way of eating and living is that you start cooking more and paying more attention to what you eat. You start eating more fresh stuff and less canned, smoked, processed foods. Within a few weeks, you'll know exactly what you can buy..... Like I said, at a deli, look for Boarshead meats, becaues they are the sandwich type and bacon-type things that are safe.

| Thanks for all your help. I'm sure I will get used to this once i'm on it for a while. I've just never looked at ingredients before, perhaps thats how I got this way!! lol. But I don't even know what 'fillers' are. well....i know what they are and what they do but I don't know the names and what to watch out for. It will all come with time...... thanks again for all the responses!
