| Yeah, one carb per oz, I doubt in a serving of chicken curry I would eat more than 2 oz. Whenever I eat (used to eat) chicken curry it would come in a big container filled w/ sauce and chicken. I would eat the chicken, and when done the container would still have almost all of the sauce still in it. |

| If it isn't on this list, it is not permitted on Induction. Keep the list around for whenever you get thrown as far as what is or isn't allowed. It keeps things simple!

| You can make an Induction friendly substitute by using heavy cream and coconut extract.

| Thanks for all the help. I've read the book, and am (I believe) fairly proficient in what goes and what doesn't concerning this diet. The only reason I asked was because I wasn't sure if it could be considered a spice or flavoring--seeing that I wasn't having a tall glass of coconut milk. A serving of it has less carbs than a tsp of garlic powder and I know we all use that stuff. I'm going to try the heavy cream idea. Thanks again. |

| Crap. Maybe I should be more strict on my induction rules. I've been making red curry and prawns (yum). It has 10g of carbs but I'm allowed 20 per day so I 'borrowed' from breakfast and lunch. Was this a bad idea? I actually assumed that there were some more exotic things that I could have as long as I was less than 20g of carbs for the day. |

| When I first started Atkins i was using coconut milk a lot (by accident) because I looked at the label and the coconut creams had something like 2g carbs per 3-4 oz and I was just using one 7oz can for every pot of curry I made because by the time I divided the carbs it wasn't too bad BUT... having said that, as you posted in the 14-day induction forum, I would have to agree with the others that it isn't allowed during induction and definitely NOT during the first 14 days. BuddhaSack, you have to look at how coconut milk/cream affects you really - there's a reason why it was placed in the OWL nut rung and there's a reason for why the rungs are placed in that order (thank goodness it didn't cause me to stall/gain at that time, but still it wasn't a smart thing to have used coconut cream without thinking) And Burton, it maybe better to try and spread your carbs out more evenly throughout the day. Sure there isn't anything "wrong" with eating 10g carbs in one meal, but you risk varying your blood sugar too much by doing that so try and spread them out a little bit.
