Default Avocado? Acceptable on induction?

Over here:

http://atkins.com/Archive/2001/12/15...rintable.html?

It says:
Special Category Foods
To add variety, each day you can also eat 10 to 20 olives, half a small avocado, an ounce of sour cream or three ounces of unsweetened heavy cream, as well as two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or lime juice. But be aware that these foods occasionally slow down weight loss in some people, and may need to be avoided in the first two weeks. If you seem to be losing slowly, moderate your intake of these foods.
I guess that since my main problem is slow weight loss that I should skip the avocado for now...

For some reason I find cheese seems to slow my loss..... also in my previous atkins days, so to speak, I honestly think pork rinds slowed my loss... am I crazy or does anyone think that could actually be the case? Even one with no added sugar, because I know some have sugar in them....

Yep that's right Rikki because often pork rinds have a much higher salt content than other foods we eat and it causes water retention, so even if it doesn't have any carbs or sugar in it, the salt can cause you to slow your loss. I noticed it happened to me, but on the suggestion of other Atkineers they said to drink more water when I eat those rinds. ie for every cup of pork rinds I drink 20oz of water and it works like a dream!

Cheese also can slow weightloss - most likely due to its effects on those who may have candida/yeast infection...

to my knowledge I haven't had any problems with a candida infection, but I do definitely notice a slow loss when eating cheese, not usually when I start atkins but after a few weeks... Thanks for the tip on rinds!

Your slower loss after a few weeks might be just the normal 'adjustment' period your body needs to catch up with what is happening to it. Most of us find that after the big 'water weight' loss on induction that we slow down.
But you could try dropping cheese for a while to see what happens.

I eat avacado's alot. I limit myself to 1/2 of one a day. I can eat cheese but not every day it completely stalls me. All depends on the person....i think. Just try it out and see.

A link to read about the nature of weight loss.
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5090

As Elizellen says, there can be a lull in weight loss after the first few weeks or so, and it's normal.
