| Hi jd. This probably won't be much help, but I did have this problem for 3 or 4 days during my second week. I couldn't eat anything without feeling like that. I ended up eating little bits at a time, and stopping frequently till that reflex settled down. I have absolutely no idea what the cause was. I thought the first time it was because the broccoli in my quiche was just too cooked for my taste, but it continued for several more days. The only helpful thing I can tell you is that it did pass.

| I get like that with mushy food, maybe that's what it is? not a lot of crunch on atkins. Maybe try buying things like cucumbers and jicama to add some crunch to your day?

| Maybe you're just not used to eating this way. It's obvious that your body is not liking the foods you have to consume

| The first week, on day 4, I was so sick. Could not even put food to my mouth without gagging. The second week around day 11 I had the same problem. It always seems to past though. I think it is just your bodies way of reacting to the different food you are eating. My fiancee who is doing atkins with me, cheated and had some McDonalds fries (his all time favorite fast food fry), and for once in his life, he couldn't stand the taste. I believe that being on Atkins, you are teaching your body to eat healthy and it rejects the healthy food, but it will settle down eventually. At least I am hoping I don't have any more days of that sick, nausous feeling. Good luck! |

| It might help to think about what you are really hungry for, and then make an induction friendly version. I haven't experienced what you are going through, but during my first week ate lots of my favorite stuff, specifically grilled food. Try grilling a nice cut of meat with a good no sugar spiec rub, and some grilled asparagus marinated with olive oil and garlic. Yum! How could you go wrong there?

| This has to be Psychosomatic in my opinion . Of course I am not a doctor: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychosomatic My advice is to see your doctor and make sure he doesn't suspect anything physical. If it does turn out to be mental try doing something to distract yourself while eating such as talking to a friend, watching TV, or something to distract your mind. That and take your time. My sister used to have the worst time doing dishes becuase for some reason it really grossed her out. She just took her time and eventually got over it. Her aversion to doign the dishes litterally manifested themselves in physical symptoms of gagging, vomiting, etc. Kevin |
