Question Question about Turkey Bacon?

Hi everyone, I'm new here...just posted a thread in the newbie section.
I have a question. I've been on Atkins for about a week now and I think I'm doing okay. I've been much more tired and run down feeling, but I've been okay for the most part (other than having a strong and sudden craving for Girl Scouts Samoa cookies...lol...I drank a LOT of extra water that day..haha) But I'm getting a little tired of tuna and hamburger and some of what I've been eating. So I got some Louis Rich Turkey Bacon, because I checked the carbs and it said 0, so I thought - No sugar, right? Well I don't know why, but I decided to go look at the ingredients and ta da, third one is Sugar (WHY does Bacon need sugar?!!!). Soo, now I don't know if I should even mess with it. Do you think it's okay to eat? That maybe the sugar is low enough it won't count so much, or should I just avoid it alltogether? I'm having a horrible time right now finding anything that doesn't have sugar in it

~Jen~

JenJen, although I don't know the answer to your question I had to reply. I'm on induction and I love turkey bacon, even plain bacon it doesn't matter. And the kinds I find don't have any carbs but then it says its cured with sugar..........!!! I swear I went through every grocery store in my area and looked at the back of every bacon package and everyone was cured with sugar. So im curious to know the answer also. I couldn't find any good bacon so what's everyone else eating???

Red face Re: Question about Turkey Bacon?

^^^^Love your siggy I never had Turkey Bacon on Atkins. But from what I remember it does taste kinda sweet. The only bacon that worked for me was the meat market bacon that was freshly sliced, sort of dry looking too.

I buy Gwantey brand bacon from Wal-Mart Super Center.. No sugar, no carbs and usually runs about 2.00 a 12oz pack...
