| Hi azn- If I remember correctly - You're a 25 year old male that's 5'6" and 195lbs, right? That being the case.... 6-7 pieces of chicken? Do you mean wings or chicken breasts? BIG difference. How much steak is 2 pieces of steak? How much tuna is in 2 cans of tuna? If you're eating more than you're taking in, or matching it for that matter, it's not going to matter if you're in ketosis or not. We're going to need more detailed information from you in order to make any educated suggestions. Your job doesn't count as exercise for you either - it's lifestyle. Exercise is something you do above and beyond that that keeps your heart pumping up in your target heart range and keeps ya sweatin' the entire time. We're going to need more detailed information from you in order to make any educated suggestions. We asked you a lot of questions in the first thread you started in order to help you and you didn't answer them. Here's the thread link in case you forgot/lost it. : http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...397#post177397 Obviously if you're not eliminating that will reflect on the scale as well, and what does "a lot of water" translate into? Sleep is essential to overall health . Please, answer the questions we asked you so we can better assist you ~Brook

| That's an aweful lot of meat. Calories do matter as well... And make sure you are measuring your vegetables. 3 cups of salad veggies... or 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup of "other" veggies per day that are on the acceptable food list http://atkins.com/Archive/2001/12/15-464579.html |

| I don't think you're eating enough fat, either. Sounds like you may be too high in protein, too low in fat. The percentages should be 65% fat, 30% protein, 5% carbs.

| I need to ask you if you've read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002 (DANDR for short) based on the very few vegetables you've mentioned there. If you have read it, review the two veggie lists and make sure you are switching up the variety that you eat so as to get the maximum benefit of both the nutrients and the fiber. Constipation is fairly common and on pages 147-148 of DANDR it discusses this. Also, in the index, there are other pages that talk about constipation as well. You do look like you're on the right track but I'd suggest cutting down on the tuna to 3 or so cans a day due to the mercury it contains. I wish I still had the link to a site someone put up a while ago, but it was a chart that showed how much tuna a week a person should eat depending on their age and health situation. Are you using Fitday? Here's a link that'll help explain it http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5235 It can tell you whether you are where you need to be in terms of your protein/carb/fat intake and it is very very helpful for knowing what to tweak to make sure you are doing the right thing. |

| i dont understand... i thought the body gets energy in this order: alcohol carbohydrates protein dietary fat then body fat. so the less fat i eat, wont it burn more body fat?? that is what i figured...So i guess ill load up on the mayo, stop draining the oil from my tuna, and keep the yolk in my eggs... Now to answer some of the questions: i dont eat chicken wings...mostly breast and legs By 2 cans of tuna..i mean 2 entire cans of starkist tuna I drink 6-8 16 oz bottles of water a day i guess ill lowet the protein and up the fat I dont want to be a spoil-sport, but Im a college student and I have a hard time preparing all these recipes etc. All the 7 day meal plans look way too complex for me to cook. Is there any alternative? I hope adding the fat will help me, because I am getting desperate. Another week or so and i might give in to ice cream |

| Just wait...it'll happen. And if you must get ice cream.. carb smart has a good LC ice cream. But it really wouldn't be the best thing to do.. I had to hide that ice cream from myself out in the big freezer in the garage. It's just too good to have around. |

| That's right. That's the order the body burns energy in. Too much protein will be converted into glucose for energy, so eating too much protein and not enough fat will essentially shoot you in the foot. By eating more protein than fat, you're not forcing your body to burn fat. This is why Atkins Induction is a 65% fat/30%protein/5% carb deal. You need to turn your body into a fat burning machine. Make a little more sense now? 7-8 chicken breasts and legs in a day is way too much meat to be eating, especially with 2 cans of tuna and steak on top of it! You have to remember too that eating more fat will leave you feeling fuller and satisfied longer and by default you'll find you eat less. You don't have to stop draining the oil from your tuna (bleck!) and you really don't have to "load up" on mayo or anything else. You'll find it's very easy to make small adjustments that will bring your percentages right in check. Cooking your chicken in a bit of olive oil, adding a tablespoon of mayo or a tablespoon of butter, dressing on your salads, etc. All very easy ways that don't require "loading up" and will get you where you need to be. Sounds like you're doing awesome with water intake as well. Good for you! You've got to invest the time in reading the book so you understand the plan and how and why it works. Honestly, Cliff Notes efforts will yeild Cliff Notes results - and you deserve so much more than that! You don't need to be following any of the silly menu plans. Spend some time in the recipe section and find foods and combinations that you ENJOY. It's really not that difficult to prepare the vast majority of this stuff. Broil a steak brushed with olive oil & spices, fry some chicken in a pan on the stovetop that's dipped in egg and coated in crushed porkrinds, bake some porkchops up. Make yourself some salads, roast beef/cheese/mayo rollups, turkey/cheese/mayo/tomato/mushrooms rolled up in a romaine leaf couldn't be easier. Really - it doesn't have to be time consuming or difficult, but you've gotta understand what you're looking for and how and why it works. You can give in to icecream if you choose to, but you know what that choice will cost you. This really is all about choices ...and like the quote in my siggy says, "Stop trading what you want most for what you want at the moment." We're here to help you and support you all the way! I wish you success. ~Brook
