| Welcome Dime. You are definately a huge step ahead by buying and reading the book. Understanding the science behind the Atkins lifestyle is so crucial to our success. In addition to the book, please read all of the stickys at the top of the induction forum. If you have any questions post them here. There are wonderful people here who volunteer their time and help newbies. Follow their advice. Sometimes they sound strict but it is only for your benefit. To get started, put a copy of the acceptable foods list for induction on the refrigerator and in your purse. Eat only the foods allowed on the list and count the carbs. Keep it as close to 20 carbs per day as possible. It is helpful when you are starting to do an inventory of your kitchen and get rid of the foods that are not allowed. Another essential tool is your water. Be very conscious of getting enough. At least 64 ounces. Follow Dr Atkins instructions in the book to the letter and you will soon find yourself losing inches and going down in sizes. You may find it helpful the first few days to post your menu in the menu forum and have someone critique it. They won't steer you wrong. As for the ketosis strips, you could start registering a change in as little as 3 days. Do be patient and stay away from the scale - Dr Atkins suggests you weigh in after two solid weeks on induction. It is a challenge at first, learning how to eat right, but you can do it. Be sure to make a point to read all the inspiring stories of Atkineers before you. There are some astonishing losers here. Keep going and you can be a loser too! Good luck to you! I'm happy you found the ADBB! |

| Thanks to all of you for the support. I started the diet this morning, some cheese, just a little. I will fix myself some eggs too. I'm not hungry quite yet but I know I must eat every six hours. I will drink a quart of water this morning to get that going.
