| If I remember correctly, adding more veggies (and subsequently more carbs) is the first rung of OWL. So, technically, you'd be moving on to OWL rather than staying on extended induction.

| Extended induction is indicative of remaining at the 20ish carb gram level but including OWL foods. Don't get too wrapped up in the technicalities. We'll adore you and support you whether you call it extended induction or OWL ~Brook

| pleae go to our FAQ section and get the topic on doing Atkins vegetarian. the info in it was from Dr Atkins medical practice back when he was treating vegetarians with his plan. you eat soy proteins duting your induction too stuff like bocca burgers and some other adjustments. You might want to look in our OWL board for the stickie on doing modified OWL where you are food from the rungs of OWL but keep your carbs well below your CCLL. that will give you nuts and seeds too Happy low carbimng

| Hey Brook, we defined "Extended Induction", "Modified OWL", etc. when you were AWOL from ADBB. Here's the stuffy stuff stuff. "Extended Induction" means you are simply extending the Induction phase beyond the first 14 days of the diet. You are still following the Induction Rules and eating only the foods on the Induction Acceptable Foods list. "Modified OWL" means you are remaining at Induction level net carbs but you are incorporating OWL foods and following OWL rules. This is legal because back in the day Dr. Atkins was alive and you called the Atkins Center Hotline, Dr. Atkins' nurses advised that you could do something like that. "OWL" means you are increasing carbs and adding OWL foods. Carb increases during OWL are in 5 net carb increments and done in a step-wise manner outlined in the book. "Pre-Maintenance" is the final weight loss phase of the Atkins Nutritional Approach. Carb increases are in 10 net carb increments and done in a step-wise manner similar to OWL. The ADBB terminology is based on Induction Rules 3-5. According to the Rules, if you eat more than 20 net carbs, you aren't doing Induction; if you eat fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy veggies, dairy other than cheese/cream/butter, you aren't doing Induction; if you eat anything not on the Acceptable Foods list, you aren't doing Induction. Quote:
The terminology is a bit tedious, but it's necessary in order to avoid confusion. In the past, "extended Induction" meant anything from extending the Induction phase to "modified OWL" to your own low carb program. The lack of standard definitions caused a great deal of confusion and strife on the ADBB boards.

| Since I know from first hand experience that you can lose weight doing OWL: 2 weeks induction=12 2 weeks extended induction=3 1 month OWL=9 2 months OWL=8 3 months OWL=8 Total= 40 pounds I highly encourage you to start climbing the rungs...both to broaden your vegie and dairy choices and your protein choices. If you read the boards you will see quite a few people who stalled out on induction then started losing again once they went to OWL. JMO

| Okay, I decided to just try to learn to like meat. It's kind of working as long as I don't think about what I'm eating. Ick. *L*
