| It does not look like it to me. I eat at least that much during the day and our height/weight is very similar. Have you figured out your Basal Metabolic Rate? That is the number of calories you need to eat to keep your body from shutting down the fat burning process. If you eat too few, it will go into starvation mode and start STORING fat instead, trying to hang onto it because you aren't eating enough. I think you should go to a site like http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ and figure that out. If you are truly worried that you are eating too much, you should use go to www.fitday.com and start tracking your food, it will tell you how many calories, carbs, fiber etc you are getting in all of your foods. You can even track your daily water intake. Definitely worth looking into if you want to know these things and be able to look back on other days, as well as your current day's consumption.

| the correct Atkins answer is if it takes that much food to satisfy your hunger at the time you are eating thenit is enough if you were satisfied but ate cause you had food on the plate room in your tummy or carbs in your budget then it is too much. the amount of food you have will vary every meal as your hunger and activities vary every time. You need to have some of your veggies carbs at every meal so you are learning to spread your carbs throughout the day and avoid a bolus of carbohydrates in one sitting. happy low carbing.

| Try to break up your meals even more. Instead of having 3 standard meals, have 6 smaller meals well spaced out. Try *hard* not to skip a meal, as doing so would lower your metabolism. On atkins, caloric restriction isn't as important as carb restriction, I believe. This in no way is an invite to pig out as such, it's just that there isn't that much of an emphasis. Infact, once you hit ketosis, the more fats you consume will encourage your body to use fat, dietary or body, as fuel. And for this reason, you want to get enough calories as well as maximal fats. |

| In the beginning sometimes we are fighting the ideas of what a diet 'should be'...which traditionally to most of us, means deprivation....so the foods we are allowed to eat on Atkins can seem really out of whack to what we used to view a diet as. Being told to eat until satisfied can be confusing if we have lost touch with our body's signals to us when it comes to hunger. Give yourself some time to get back in tune with your body and you'll find that your food consumption will even out, especially when the appetite suppresion part of the diet kicks in. Here's a link to help you understand more about Fitday and what it can help you to see (Fitday!)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5235 Your foods look fine and I'll just support what the others said: You need to spread your veggies out through the day, and even if you only have a few mouthfuls for breakfast on the way out the door, that's better than missing it entirely. This is where planning ahead comes in...have some boiled eggs peeled and ready to go, or smear some cream cheese on a celery stick...a protein/fat combo is the best. |
