Question Need Help with Allergies to Foods

I have been successful with Atkins (when I stick to it...go figure) anyway, this is MY TIME...I really want to stick with it...however I am allergic to wheat and dairy. (Wheat not a big deal on Atkins, I can avoid that all together) but I see so many wonderful recipies I would love to try like Pumpkin cheescake, or flan or the like.

Does anyone have a low carb, non dairy substitue to heavy cream, whipping cream or cream cheese?

Thanks so much, God bless and Happy Holidays!!!

not a sub but you can use unflavored gelatin a can of pumpkin pie spice and some water and get pumpkin desserts.

Are you allergic to the proteins or to the lactose in the dairy if it is the lactose they you should be good with any of the whey protein isolates

I don't know exactly. I know that whenever I have dairy I get very ill and end up in the fetal position in the bathroom waiting for it to come up or go out one way or another. Not fun. Wheat has the same effect on me. Hot flashes, sweaty, cramping, vomitting or diarreha.

I was tested for Celiac (just a blood test, not the intestinal test) it came back negative, but the doctor said, you obviously have a reaction to these foods so my advice to you. AVOID THEM. $200.00 for sound advice..

So I was looking for something that I could mix with pumpkin, or eggs for quiche etc. Just something that maybe I haven't thought of.

What kind of recipe is with gelatin and pumpkin? Is it induction friendly?

it is a no bake pumpkin pie actually pumpkin jello would be a better word for it.

Okay then whey protein isolates are out for you too but their are other protein isolates like soy if you like the taste they have egg and even rice but you need to be careful you don't get a bleneded one. When you get to OWL you can use nut flour for baking too.

there is induction bread using flax if you are a constipated prone person you get to have flax per rule 12 but only 1-2 T a day.
if we still have it Book posted a flax egg bread for induction too.
the recipe data base is down right now but when it is up you can check for things.

One thing you really want to remember is your sweet tooth got you where you needed Atkins so you want to take this time to kill it and death by starevation works great for sweet thooths.

Read your DANDR chapter 11 and have a great 14 days. Can't wait to see your day 15 yipeee I lsot post.

I agree I want to kill my sweet tooth for sure! I have been feeling better about everything this time, it just feels right. Like I know I am going to do it this time.

Soy milk or rice milk is probably not a good choice right? Not on the DANDR list. But then again I am an exception. Would almond milk work better or cocunut milk or something?????

Default Re: Need Help with Allergies to Foods

you are not an exception any more then my soy allergy make me an exception. milk isnot allowed on Atkins induction period. read your copy of DR ATKINS NEW DIET RE4VOLUTION 2002 edition known as DANDR around here. chapter 11 is induction and no where does it say you have to consume one single dairy product in those rules. it says you make select from the cheese list it does not say you have to have cheese. it say you may add cream or sour cream for variety but it don't say you gots to eat it cause Atkins only works if you do.

If you want to be successful this time don't try to change Atkins cause you have a food allergy just do like the rest of us that have them and avoid the food you are allergic to and consume the allowabel foods you can have.

Actually with all the folk posting about cheats with dairy foods you should do as I do and count it a blessing cause if you are allergic you just side steps whole calsses of loc carb frankenfoods that are the death of many Atkins Way of life wannabes.

So what you doing for the exercise part of your Atkins? we got serveral challenges that are ongoing you can join and with our seasonal discounts you can join for free if you act now

happy low carbing.

when you get to rung 3 of OWL you can add nut milks if and only if your metabolism allows you to do so.

I am walking, doing a lot of major remodeling around the house, hauling out bricks, tearing down nails, sheetrock and walking up and down stairs. I have an elliptical I can't use right now until we get the remodeling done, but it's there for me.

Hmm I thought on induction cheese was 3 to 4 oz a day? All this crazy talk about cream cheese and shredded cheeses etc. Well not heck, I don't feel left out at all. LOL

Thank you 2b4ms you have been a blessing and thank you for keeping me on track.

Food allergies are no fun! I'm glad 2Big posted about choosing something else. Keep studying the 2002 edition of DANDR. It really helps to balance everything you are wanting to do - it's all about whole foods, healthy foods, instead of the fast/processed way.

Have dairy foods been the only things that set you off?
