Buy DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION 2002 edition and read it cover to cover then go back and reread chapter 11. there you will find the acceptable foods lists for your next 14 days of Atkins induction eating.

Next clean out all the processed high carb foods from your house . bag them up and give them to a food pantry. you can do it.

Make an appointment with your doctor for a check up and some blood work to be sure you are healthy and so you will have before blood cholesterol levels to compare yourself with in 6 moinths.

then just select feom the lists foods you like and fix them. it is really that easy to do Atkins.

Start your exercise program. if you are a couch potato do some walking if you are a regular exerciser step it up a notch and get busy.

Happy low carbing.

Well, you've come to the right place for help, and since you are posting on an Atkins board, you do have an idea where to start, don't you?

As 2big pointed out: go and buy the book. Read it. Read the stickies in the forums, in particular those here in the induction section - this will give you the idea and lists of acceptable foods. But reading the book is non-negotiable!

We are all here to stand right beside you and help you through the ups and downs, but the only one who can actually DO something about your weight and about how you feel, is YOU. So, just do it. Go ahead, see your doctor for a checkup (again, read the book and you know why you should check in with your doctor and what to check). Lay out your plan, shop for Atkins legal foods, get rid of the junk in your house, and go for it.

You can do it.

Good advice, folks!
Yep..read the book..Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (version 2002, we call it DANDR for short)
Learn from the source! We also have tons and tons of good info here in the stickies, but it's very important to learn from the source.

While you are preparing to start the diet (reading, cleaning out your cupboards, adjusting your way of thinking) you can make some changes. Upping your water intake is a good place to start.
You need to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, plus another 8 ounces for each 25 pounds you need to lose. Yes, you'll pee a lot..lol...but you'll soon get into the habit of drinking it. Find out how you like it (cold, room temperature), get a water bottle and keep it beside you at all times.

Go through the Before and After Forum and look at the pictures. Remember we were ALL in your position not so long ago...we all have gone through the heartache of being obese/heavy and we are just regular folks who had had enough and made the committment.

All the best to you...!

What 2BIG said!

1. The book. No substitute for it.

2. The foods. Eat only those listed in the book in the quantities shown.

3. Exercise. Its non-negotiable. Find something you love to do and do it EVERY SINGLE DAY.

4. Water. Lots and lots. To the tune of 1/2 your weight in oz per day.

5. No caffeine, no nutrasweet.

6. Come to this board everyday for inspiration and motivation. We are here for you!

YOU ARE SO VERY WORTH IT!

Betty

You've gotten some very good advice. Buy yourself a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution as a Christmas present this year (doesn't matter if you celebrate Christmas or not---just buy it as a gift to you). Or borrow a copy from your local library. Read it cover to cover. Come back here if you have any questions or need some clarifications. Read it again, then decide if Atkins is right for you and your lifestyle.

I congratulate you because you made the scary step on your weight loss journey---you faced up to your weight and you're going to do something about it. Good for you!

You have recieved excellent advice, the only thing I can add is stay away from the processed food like the bars and shakes. They stall some people and should only be used in emergencies after you are off induction. Make sure you buy the 2002 version of the book. It is really good. I have hit rock bottom before and did something about it. Take care and if it is cold where you are and you don't want to go out to exercise, You can join curves or I got the walk away the pounds by Leslie Sansone which I do in my family room. You need very little space to do it. It is available at Walmart or online at Amazon. I got the double collection on Amazon for the same price as one at Walmart. Best Wishes and you will see the pounds melt away..........Dawn

i would say choose the right time to start,if u think u are strong enough to pass temptations on xmass then start right away else, start when u are comfortable dont rush in just today!read the book make a comitment ,weigh yourself before starting induction and stay away from the scale for two weeks from the day u start, and u will definately see the result,it really works!!!

You have been given great advice so all I will say is
Welcome to ADBB

Oh - and when you weigh yourself before you start induction get a tape measure and measure yourself in lots of different places on your body so when the scales slow you can still prove you are losing inches!!
